Headline : Victorious Macron vows to unite France after fending off Le Pen threat
Macron is victorious for the second time with a score of 58.5 % to Le Pen’s 41.4 %. Many people voted Macron to fend off the far right, which is an anti-immigration party, but Le Pen has a higher score in a French presidential election than five years ago which was about 34 %. Turnout was also lower than five years ago, and abstention is estimated at a record 28 %.

Last night was the traditional debate between the two finalist candidates for the Presidential election. They debated on different topics such as : the war in Ukraine, health care, pensions, Covid, Europe, taxes, ecology and insecurities. They debated during two-and-half hour.

Headline : EU anti-fraud body accuses Marine Le Pen of embezzlement
Marine Le Pen (and her father) are accused of emblezzment, they have misused 620, 000 euros while they were serving the European Parliament. Marine Le Pen denies the accusation because she claims to the second round of the Presidential elections and believes that is a manipulation against her to lose. She was an MEP between 2004 and 2017 and diverted 130, 000 euros of EU funds for the FN purposes.

Headline : France election : polls open with Macron and Le Pen vying closely presidency
Today is the first round of the Presidencial election in France. At midday turnout was about 25,5 % compared to 28 % in 2017 at the same time in France. This election is different because of the pandemic issues in 2020, the war in Ukraine the last month and the cost of living issues for many voters. This causes a lack of interest for many voters, and due to the lack of debates between the candidates, voters are more disinterested this year than any other.


Headline : After fires, floods and a pandemic, Australians once again head to national election
Australian Prime Minister Morisson has called an election for May and hopes to win it a second time but he is facing accusations against him. His popularity is falling so he is losing voters, polls show. He is being criticized for his response to the pandemic, as well as for devastating floods and fires in Australia due to climate change. Morrison is trying to deny the accusations.
